Who Can Apply

Australian lead applicant must be an eligible incorporated Australian entity with a current ABN and a UK project partner. Universities cannot be lead applicants, but can participate as project partners. Grant covers up to 50% of eligible project costs; at least 30% of total project costs must be cash contribution. UK partner must apply to Innovate UK, and the Australian and UK grant requests must be matched within 10%.
Applicants must be Australian organisations undertaking hydrogen research, development and demonstration projects in partnership with UK companies. The program supports Australian companies and other eligible incorporated Australian entities with a current ABN, including incorporated CRCs and CSIRO as a Corporate Commonwealth Entity. Universities are not eligible to be the lead applicant, but may participate as project partners. Projects must be joint Australia-UK projects, and the UK project partner must apply to Innovate UK under the complementary UK program. The Australian grant amount must be matched within 10% of the UK grant amount in Australian dollar equivalent. Grants cover up to 50% of eligible project expenditure, with the remaining 50% provided by the lead applicant and/or project partners as cash or in-kind contributions; at least 30% of total eligible project costs must be cash. In-kind contributions can make up no more than 20% of eligible project expenditure. Commonwealth funding cannot be used for activities or projects already receiving Commonwealth funding, and cash contributions cannot include other Commonwealth government grants.
