Who Can Apply

• Must be an owner or operator of a trade-exposed Safeguard Mechanism facility that is not a new or expanded coal or gas facility. • Must have an Australian Business Number and be incorporated in Australia, a company limited by guarantee, or an incorporated association. • Project must reduce emissions, have eligible expenditure, and be completed by 31 March 2033 within a maximum of 60 months. • Shared infrastructure projects must be in Regional Australia and have a practical connection to an eligible facility.
Applicants must be an owner or operator of a trade-exposed Safeguard Mechanism facility that is not a new or expanded coal or gas production facility. Applicants must have an active Australian Business Number and be an entity incorporated in Australia, a company limited by guarantee, or an incorporated association. Projects must be eligible, have eligible expenditure, and be completed by 31 March 2033 with a maximum project period of 60 months. Projects must contribute to Australia’s emissions reduction targets and be delivered either on-site at an eligible facility anywhere in Australia, or as shared infrastructure with a practical connection to an eligible facility and the grantee in Regional Australia, defined as outside a Greater Capital City but including Kwinana. Ineligible applicants include owners of trade-exposed Safeguard facilities that are also new or expanded coal or gas facilities, organisations or project partners on the National Redress Scheme list of institutions that have not joined or signified intent to join, and employers of 100 or more employees that have not complied with the Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012.
