Who is eligible for the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Grants?
- Applicant must be the owner, manager, long-term lessee or custodian of a declared Aboriginal Place, or have written support from all custodians/owners.
- Eligible applicant types include local councils, Local Aboriginal Land Councils, businesses, non-government organisations, community groups and individuals.
- Businesses or incorporated entities must have operations and headquarters in New South Wales.
- Applicant must have legal responsibility for maintenance and repair of the declared Aboriginal Place.
- Project must be for a heritage management document or heritage works within the boundary of a declared Aboriginal Place.
- There must be no active Heritage Act 1977 or National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974 compliance issues at the site.
- Applicant must have the support of Aboriginal custodians.
- Project must be delivered between July 2023 and May 2025.
- State and Federal government agencies cannot apply.
- Sites owned, managed or protected by a State or Federal government agency are ineligible.
- Aboriginal Places acquired or leased from a State or Federal government agency in the last two years are ineligible.
- Businesses or entities located or incorporated outside New South Wales are ineligible.
- Incomplete applications or applications lacking sufficient information are ineligible.
- Local councils must provide matched funding equal to or greater than the grant amount requested.
