To be eligible, applicants must be a legal entity that can enter into a grant agreement with the Commonwealth, have an Australian Business Number (ABN), and be 18 years of age or older if applying as an individual. Projects must include eligible activities and expenditure and have at least $5,000 in eligible expenditure. Ineligible applicants include trusts (except where an incorporated trustee applies on behalf of a trust), Commonwealth, state or local government agencies or bodies including government business enterprises, the 56 regional natural resource management organisations, peak bodies, umbrella bodies, umbrella groups with a national or state/territory focus, and political parties, political organisations or lobbyists.

Eligible activities include weed treatment, pest or disease management, fencing, erosion management, revegetation, education activities and raising community awareness or participation, access management, indigenous land and sea country planning, recording of indigenous ecological knowledge, and project-related administration support.

Expected Outcomes

Projects are expected to protect and conserve Australia’s water, plants, animals and ecosystems, work in partnership with local communities, increase the protection, rehabilitation and restoration of environmental assets, and strengthen the natural resource management community’s delivery of biodiversity and natural resources practice.
