The 2025 NAIDOC Grants Program provides small grants to support events and activities across New South Wales that celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples during NAIDOC Week. Who Can Apply

• Applicant must be an eligible entity located in New South Wales and able to enter into a funding agreement with Aboriginal Affairs NSW Premier’s Department • Eligible applicants include incorporated not-for-profit organisations registered with NSW Fair Trading under the Associations Incorporation Act 2009 (NSW) • Eligible applicants include Aboriginal Corporations registered under the Corporations (Aboriginal Torres Strait Islanders) Act 2006 (Cth) • Eligible applicants include not-for-profit companies incorporated in Australia under the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) • Eligible applicants include Local Aboriginal Land Councils established under the Aboriginal Land Rights Act 1983 (NSW) • Eligible applicants include New South Wales local councils operating under the Local Government Act 1993 (NSW) • Eligible applicants include incorporated cooperatives • Eligible applicants include incorporated trustees on behalf of a trust, including Catholic School trusts • Unincorporated Aboriginal groups may apply only through an eligible auspice organisation • Applicant must have an Australian bank account and an Australian Business Number • Applicant must have public liability insurance of at least 10000000 per claim • Projects must be delivered within New South Wales • Individuals are not eligible • Federal or State Government agencies and bodies, including public schools and hospitals, are not eligible • For-profit organisations, including Aboriginal businesses, are not eligible • Unincorporated Aboriginal organisations or groups without an eligible auspice partnership are not eligible • Applicants or auspices banned due to non-compliance with Aboriginal Affairs NSW grant requirements are not eligible • Organisations with redress sanctions in place under the National Redress Scheme are not eligible • One application per applicant or organisation is eligible each calendar year

Applicants must have an Australian bank account, an active Australian Business Number, and public liability insurance of at least $10 million per claim. Projects must be delivered within New South Wales. Individuals, government agencies and bodies including public schools and hospitals, for-profit organisations including Aboriginal businesses, unincorporated Aboriginal groups without an eligible auspice partnership, banned applicants or auspices, and organisations with redress sanctions are not eligible.

Eligible activities include NAIDOC Week events and activities held in New South Wales such as community festivals and fun days, public exhibitions, community gatherings, cultural workshops, NAIDOC-themed sporting activities or competitions, school community-based activities, and women’s, men’s and Elders-only activities. Funding can cover materials and consumables, catering supplies excluding alcohol, workshop facilitators, artists and Elders, and venue rental or hire fees.
