Who Can Apply

Must have an Australian Business Number and be incorporated in Australia. Must be a medical research institute, university, corporate Commonwealth entity, or corporation including businesses and not for profits. Projects must run for 2 to 5 years and include required board or CEO support and partner letters where relevant. Individuals, partnerships, unincorporated associations, non-corporate Commonwealth entities, and certain non-compliant organisations are not eligible.
Applicants must have an active Australian Business Number and be incorporated in Australia. They must also be in accordance with section 24 of the MRFF Act 2015 and be one of the following: a medical research institute, a university, a corporate Commonwealth entity, or a corporation including businesses and not for profits. Joint applications are encouraged if there is an eligible lead organisation. Applicants must nominate a Chief Investigator A and list all research team members as Chief Investigators. Applications must include board or CEO support confirming the project is supported and that the organisation can complete the project and meet any costs not covered by the grant, plus letters of support from project partners where applicable. Projects must be completed within a minimum of 2 years and a maximum of 5 years from execution. Ineligible applicants include individuals, partnerships, unincorporated associations, trusts unless applying through an incorporated trustee, non-corporate Commonwealth entities, organisations not included in section 3.1 of the guidelines, organisations or project partners on the National Redress Scheme list of institutions that have not joined or signified intent to join, and organisations named by the Workplace Gender Equality Agency as non-compliant with the Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012.
