Who Can Apply

• Must have an active ABN and be incorporated in Australia. • Eligible entities include medical research institutes, universities, corporate Commonwealth entities, and corporations including businesses and not-for-profits. • Stream 3 requires a consortia with at least one academic organisation, at least one other organisation, and at least 34% cash co-contribution. • Individuals, partnerships, unincorporated associations, non-corporate Commonwealth entities, and non-compliant large employers are not eligible.
Applicants must have an Australian Business Number, be incorporated in Australia, and be one of the following under section 24 of the Medical Research Future Fund Act 2015: a medical research institute, a university, a corporate Commonwealth entity, or a corporation including businesses and not for profits. Applicants must have an eligible project and eligible expenditure. Stream 3 applicants must be a member of a consortia that includes at least one academic organisation and at least one other organisation that may be industry or a state or territory government, and the consortia must contribute at least 34% of project costs in cash. Ineligible applicants include individuals, partnerships, unincorporated associations, non-corporate Commonwealth entities, trusts unless applying through an incorporated trustee, organisations not on the eligible entity list, organisations or project partners on the National Redress Scheme list of institutions that have not joined or signified intent to join, and employers of 100 or more employees that have not complied with the Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012. Projects must be completed within 5 years of the project start date and applications must include required supporting documents such as board or CEO support evidence, partner letters of support, a chief investigator list, project plan, itemised budget, MRFF measures of success statement, risk management plan, IP arrangements, and trust deed if applicable.
