Who Can Apply

Must have an active ABN and be incorporated in Australia. Must be an eligible entity such as a medical research institute, university, corporate Commonwealth entity, or corporation including not-for-profits. Individuals, partnerships, unincorporated associations, and most trusts cannot apply. Must provide organisational support evidence, financial statements, and avoid duplicating existing research.
Applicants must have an Australian Business Number, be incorporated in Australia, and be one of the following entity types in accordance with section 24 of the MRFF Act 2015: a medical research institute, a university, a corporate Commonwealth entity, or a corporation including businesses and not-for-profits. Applicants must provide board or chief executive officer support evidence, letters of support from project partners where applicable, and audited financial statements or annual reports. Applicants must not duplicate research already undertaken or currently being undertaken, and must list all Chief Investigators up to a maximum of 15, with each Chief Investigator named on no more than one active expression of interest or full application. Ineligible applicants include individuals, partnerships, unincorporated associations, trusts unless applying through an incorporated trustee, organisations or project partners on the National Redress Scheme non-participation list, and employers of 100 or more employees that have not complied with the Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012. Joint applications are encouraged with an eligible lead organisation.
