Who Can Apply

Must have an active Australian Business Number and be incorporated in Australia. Must be an eligible entity such as a medical research institute, university, corporate Commonwealth entity, or corporation. Must partner with Australian small to medium-sized enterprises and provide required board or CEO support evidence and partner letters where applicable. Individuals, partnerships, unincorporated associations, trusts without an incorporated trustee, and non-corporate Commonwealth entities are not eligible.
To be eligible, applicants must have an Australian Business Number, be incorporated in Australia, and in accordance with section 24 of the MRFF Act 2015 be one of the following entities: a medical research institute, a university, a corporate Commonwealth entity, or a corporation including businesses and not for profits. Joint applications are encouraged where there is an eligible lead organisation. Applicants must provide evidence from their board or chief executive officer or equivalent that the project is supported and that they can complete the project and meet project costs not covered by grant funding, and letters of support from each project partner where applicable. All project team members must be listed on the application form as Project Managers, and a Project Manager A must be nominated. Individuals, partnerships, unincorporated associations, organisations not included in section 3.1 of the guidelines, trusts except where an incorporated trustee applies on behalf of a trust, and non-corporate Commonwealth entities are not eligible.

Projects are expected to progress Australian medical research and innovation through early development so they become de-risked and more attractive to private investment for commercialisation, improving the health and wellbeing of Australians.
