The Industry Growth Program provides advisory support and matched grant opportunities for innovative Australian SMEs undertaking commercialisation and growth projects in National Reconstruction Fund priority areas. Eligible businesses can apply at any time for advisory services and, after receiving an advisory report, may apply for grants from $50,000 to $5 million.

Who Can Apply

• Must first receive an Industry Growth Program Advisory Service report before applying for a grant opportunity • Must be an eligible entity with an innovative product, process or service intended for commercialisation and/or growth • Project must be in one or more National Reconstruction Fund priority areas • Must have combined annual turnover of less than $20 million for each of the 3 financial years before lodging the application • Must have an Australian Business Number (ABN) • Must be registered for goods and services tax (GST) • Must not be exempt from paying income tax • Must be a company incorporated in Australia, a co-operative, or an incorporated trustee applying on behalf of a trust • Individuals, partnerships, trusts without an incorporated trustee, and government agencies or bodies cannot apply • Organisations on the National Redress Scheme list of institutions that have not joined or signified intent to join are ineligible • Employers of 100 or more employees that have not complied with the Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012 are ineligible • Minor changes or improvements to existing products or services are not considered innovative and are not eligible • Grant applications are awarded on merit and not all advisory participants will receive funding
Applicants first apply for the Advisory Service and can only apply for a grant opportunity after receiving an Advisory Service report. For Advisory Services, applicants must be an eligible entity with an innovative product, process or service intended for commercialisation and/or growth in one or more National Reconstruction Fund priority areas. Eligible entities must have combined annual turnover of less than $20 million for each of the 3 financial years before lodging the application, have an active Australian Business Number, be registered for GST, and not be exempt from paying income tax. Applicants must be a company incorporated in Australia, a co-operative, or an incorporated trustee applying on behalf of a trust. Ineligible applicants include individuals, partnerships, trusts without an incorporated trustee, and Commonwealth, state or local government agencies or bodies. Organisations on the National Redress Scheme non-participation list, or employers of 100 or more employees that have not complied with the Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012, are also ineligible. Grant opportunity applications additionally require receipt of an Advisory Service report and are assessed on eligibility and merit.

Early-stage commercialisation projects at feasibility study, proof-of-concept and prototyping stages, and commercialisation and growth projects covering prototyping through to market readiness, including market entry strategies, accelerating growth and scaling into national and international markets.

Expected Outcomes

Projects should establish the commercial viability of innovative products, processes or services, support commercialisation and business growth, and help build Australia's manufacturing capability in National Reconstruction Fund priority areas.
