Who Can Apply

Only NHMRC approved Administering Institutions may apply. Applications must meet all requirements in the Ideas Grants 2026 Guidelines. The CIA is expected to have the capability to lead the research team. Projects primarily focused on clinical trials or cohort studies are not suitable for this scheme.
Applications will only be accepted from NHMRC approved Administering Institutions. Applications must satisfy all the eligibility requirements set out in the Ideas Grants 2026 Guidelines. It is expected that the CIA will have the capability to lead the team in achieving the project aims. The scheme is not intended to support research where a clinical trial or cohort study is the primary objective; such applications should be submitted to the Clinical Trial and Cohort Studies Grant scheme.
