Genomics Health Futures Mission – Projects Grants

This grant opportunity supports genomics research projects under the Australian Government's National Health and Medical Industry Growth Plan. It is targeted at researchers undertaking innovative and creative genomics research. In Round 1, eligible projects had to fall into one of the following areas: cancers (including lung cancer and mesothelioma) and diseases with high mortality and low survivability; paediatric acute care genomic research for clinically or critically ill children; or ethical, legal and social issues related to genomics in health care. The opportunity is delivered through two streams: Projects Grants, which fund research projects in cancers and high-mortality diseases and paediatric acute care genomics; and Ethical, Legal and Social Issues Research Grants, which fund projects focused on ethical, legal and social issues related to genomics in health care. The total funding available is $30 million over 3 years for the Projects Grants stream and $3.7 million over 3 years for the Ethical, Legal and Social Issues stream. For the Projects Grants stream, applicants can request between $500,000 and $5 million, up to 100% of eligible project costs. For the Ethical, Legal and Social Issues stream, applicants can request between $100,000 and $500,000, up to 100% of eligible project costs. Projects must be completed by 30 June 2022. The grant opportunity is currently closed, with new rounds to open in the future.
