The fund is for organisers of proven events held in regional New South Wales. Events must be located in regional areas of the state and be able to demonstrate a track record as a proven event. Event organisers must have already received the maximum funding permitted through the Flagship Event Program before applying to the Event Development Fund. Funding is offered for activities likely to promote increased overnight visitation to the region, including promotional and cooperative marketing activities, visitor research, infrastructure to encourage extended stays, improved visitor experience infrastructure and services, and improved or temporary accommodation options. Funding cannot be used as prize money, gifts or contributions to charitable groups, or for performer or artist fees, infrastructure costs, travel expenses, or general administration costs.
