Eligible applicants are New South Wales individuals, organisations and businesses purchasing or registering eligible new or used battery electric vehicles (BEVs) or hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) with a dutiable value up to and including $78,000. The vehicle must be a light vehicle under 4.5 tonne gross vehicle mass, including motorcycles. The exemption applied to vehicles registered or purchased in New South Wales between 1 September 2021 and 31 December 2023. From 1 January 2024, refund applications require proof of purchase and deposit payment where applicable, showing the purchase or deposit was made before 1 January 2024.
