Who Can Apply

Best fit for New South Wales-headquartered for-profit deep-tech companies with sub-$2.5 million revenue, strong New South Wales employee presence, control of commercialisation IP, and an eligible physical sciences or biological sciences project already at TRL 3–7. Poor fit for digital-only software, AI platforms, subsidiaries, public companies, or businesses outside New South Wales.
• Applicant must be a company incorporated under the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth), or an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Corporation registered under the Corporations (Aboriginal and /or Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006 (Cth). • Applicant must be for-profit. • Applicant must not be listed on a public stock exchange. • Applicant must hold an active Australian Business Number. • Applicant must be headquartered in New South Wales. • As at 1 January 2026, more than 65% of Full Time Equivalent employees must be employed in New South Wales. • Applicant revenue must be less than $2.5 million in FY2024/25, excluding grant funding. • Applicant must not be a subsidiary of another company. • Applicant must own the intellectual property or hold an exclusive licence to commercialise it in Australia and globally. • Project must be at TRL 3–7 at application time. • Project must progress an existing physical prototype of a device, technology or product, or a proof-of-concept of a biological or life sciences innovation. • Project must be completed within 2 years unless exceptional circumstances apply. • Project activities must not already have received grant funding. • Project must not be eligible for the Medical Devices Fund funded by NSW Health. • Digital-only applications such as software applications, data tools and AI platforms are not eligible.
