Who Can Apply

Must have an active ABN, an Australian bank account, and be incorporated in Australia. Must be a licensed motor dealer or trader, an associated service centre, or an eligible EV-capable automotive repair business. Rebate applies to eligible EV chargers purchased and installed on or after 2024-03-26, or portable DC units with at least 2500 in expenditure. Residential-premises businesses, certain non-compliant organisations, and some large employers not meeting WGEA obligations are excluded.
Applicants must have an Australian Business Number, have an account with an Australian financial institution, and be an entity incorporated in Australia. Eligible applicants must be a licensed motor dealer or trader, a service centre associated with a licensed motor dealer or trader, or an automotive repair business compliant with Australian Standards 5732:2022 for EV operations maintenance and repair and with at least one current staff member suitably qualified to undertake work on EVs. Ineligible applicants include organisations not listed as eligible entities, businesses operating from residential premises, organisations or project partners on the National Redress Scheme list of institutions that have not joined or signified intent to join, and employers of 100 or more employees that have not complied with the Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012. To be eligible for a rebate, applicants must have purchased and installed at least one eligible smart EV charger at an eligible site on or after 2024-03-26, or purchased a portable DC EV charging unit with minimum expenditure of 2500. Fixed EV charging units must meet smart requirements and be installed by a licensed electrician. Portable DC EV charging units must be powered via an electrical outlet assessed for safety and additional load by a licensed electrician.
