Who Can Apply

ACT clubs or club groups must have gaming machines under a Class C licence. Associated organisations, club workers, peak bodies, unions and some government organisations may apply. Gambling-related activities and business-as-usual activities are not eligible. Individual clubs within a club group, and clubs without a Class C licence in the past 5 years, are not eligible.
Applicants can apply if they are an ACT club or club group with gaming machines under a Class C licence, a club industry peak body representative or representative group, a trade union representing ACT club workers, an Australian state or territory government organisation, a club worker, a club executive, or a member of a club management committee or board. The grant is intended for ACT clubs, club groups, associated organisations and club workers. The Advisory Board will not accept applications for gambling-related activity, including updates to gambling areas or gambling equipment. It will also not accept applications from individual clubs within a club group, or from ACT clubs and club groups that have not had gaming machines under a Class C licence in the past 5 years. Applications must be submitted by the due date and the proposed activity must not be business-as-usual, must not have already started, and must not be funded for the same activity through another government program.

Eligible activities include developing non-gaming income sources, supporting and maintaining clubs, reducing administration costs, improving administration and compliance, providing training for club workers and governance personnel, undertaking feasibility studies, paying ACT Government land development fees, paying lease or development application fees, engaging consultants or sales agents, and engaging a researcher or project manager.

Applicants are expected to deliver a clear implementation plan with milestone dates, a detailed budget, and evaluation criteria showing how success will be measured. Funded activities should demonstrate benefits for club members and staff, the local community, the wider Canberra community and the ACT clubs industry, with clear return on investment and measurable outcomes.
