Who Can Apply

• Eligible activities must fall within one of two streams: infrastructure projects or systemic risk reduction projects. • Applicants listed include NSW Government Agencies, large non-government organisations, medium to small non-government organisations, peak bodies, local government and community groups. • Projects must meet the minimum eligibility requirements in the Australian Government guidelines. • A complete project proposal form and required attachments must be submitted. • Projects should be ready to commence from July 2023 and have a viable 3-year schedule. • Projects should have assigned resources with relevant experience and project management capability. • The checklist indicates projects should be large scale projects of greater than $1 million including co-contributions. • Projects should have secured, or have a viable plan to secure, co-contribution funding. • Projects can encompass one or more eligible activity types, be joined-up, and/or be multi-jurisdictional. • Funding cannot be used for ineligible expenditure such as double-dipping, unrelated wages, retrospective costs, general administration, most travel, activities outside Australia, and certain road works or maintenance.
Eligible project activities were divided into two streams. Stream One covered infrastructure projects directed at resilience to, preparedness for, or reduction of the risk of a future natural disaster affecting an area. Stream Two covered systemic risk reduction projects that build the long-term sustainability of communities in areas at risk of future natural disasters. Applicants listed on the page included NSW Government Agencies, large non-government organisations, medium to small non-government organisations, peak bodies, local government and community groups. The NSW Reconstruction Authority was the nominated coordinating applicant for the NSW application and encouraged aggregated projects or consortia. Projects needed to meet the minimum requirements in the Australian Government guidelines, submit a complete project proposal form, and were screened for readiness, funding viability, co-contributions, capability and suitability. The checklist indicated projects should be ready to commence from July 2023, have a viable 3-year schedule, be large scale projects of greater than $1 million including co-contributions, and have secured or viable plans to secure co-contribution funding.
