Who Can Apply

• Applicant must be an Aboriginal-owned and controlled legal entity • Applicant must be located in New South Wales or working with Aboriginal communities in New South Wales • Applicant must be able to enter into a funding agreement with Aboriginal Affairs NSW • Eligible entity types include Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander corporations, incorporated companies, Local Aboriginal Land Councils, incorporated associations, incorporated cooperatives, incorporated trustees, eligible auspiced unincorporated Aboriginal groups, and certain Aboriginal sole traders or businesses • Applicant must deliver a service to Aboriginal communities within New South Wales • Applicant must hold public liability insurance of at least $10000000 per claim or be willing to purchase it in the project budget • Unincorporated Aboriginal groups must have an eligible auspicing organisation • Individuals are not eligible • Non-Aboriginal groups or organisations are not eligible • Federal and state government agencies and bodies, including New South Wales public schools and hospitals, are not eligible • For-profit organisations are not eligible, except certain Aboriginal sole trader businesses • Organisations with unmet acquittal or reporting obligations for Aboriginal Affairs NSW grants in the previous two years are not eligible • Organisations with redress sanctions under the National Redress Scheme are not eligible • An organisation can only receive one grant from this program
Eligible applicants must be Aboriginal-owned and controlled legal entities located in New South Wales, or working with Aboriginal communities in New South Wales, and able to enter into a funding agreement with Aboriginal Affairs NSW. Eligible organisations include Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander corporations, Australian incorporated companies, Local Aboriginal Land Councils, incorporated associations, incorporated cooperatives, incorporated trustees on behalf of a trust, unincorporated Aboriginal community groups with an eligible auspice, and Aboriginal businesses or sole traders whose primary business activity relates to cultural expression or revitalisation where projects are not profit-making in nature. Applicants must deliver a service to Aboriginal communities within New South Wales and have public liability insurance of at least $10 million per claim or be willing to purchase it as part of the project budget. Ineligible applicants include individuals, non-Aboriginal groups or organisations, federal and state government agencies and bodies including New South Wales public schools and hospitals, for-profit organisations except certain Aboriginal sole trader businesses, unincorporated groups without an eligible auspicing organisation, organisations that have not met acquittal or reporting requirements for previous Aboriginal Affairs NSW grants in the last two years, and organisations with redress sanctions under the National Redress Scheme. An organisation can only receive one grant from the 2022-2023 Cultural Grants Program.
