Who Can Apply

• Individuals only: applicants must be 18+ and based in New South Wales for at least 6 months before applying. • Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident and from at least one specified under-represented background. • Ineligible if employed by a government screen agency, in breach of New South Wales Government funding obligations, or if they have more than 5 years of paid experience in the relevant department. • Stage 2 also requires a driver licence, TFN, Australian bank account, Stage 1 completion, and availability for up to 20 weeks placement plus up to 2 years mentorship.
Stage 1 applicants must be 18 years or older, be a New South Wales resident who has lived in New South Wales for at least 6 months immediately before applying, and be an Australian citizen or permanent resident. Applicants must be available to attend intensive training for their applied department, belong to at least one under-represented group (Regional New South Wales, Western Sydney, First Nations people, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people living with disability, LGBTQIA+ people, or people from low socio-economic backgrounds), not be in breach of any obligation under any funding agreement with the New South Wales Government, and not be an employee of a federal, state, or territory government screen agency. Applicants may additionally seek a bursary of up to $500 for accessibility and/or travel costs if they live in regional New South Wales or Western Sydney and cannot cover travel costs, or if they are living with disability and require accessibility measures. Stage 2 applicants must meet all Stage 1 criteria and also have a current provisional or full driver licence, an Australian tax file number, an Australian bank account, be available to commit to a trainee placement on a New South Wales production for up to 20 weeks, commit to regular meetings with an industry mentor for up to 2 years following placement, and have satisfactorily completed the Stage 1 training relevant to the placement. Applicants are ineligible if they have more than 5 years of paid experience in the department for which they are applying.
