Who Can Apply

• Individuals only: applicants must be 18+ and New South Wales residents for at least 6 months • Must be Australian citizens or permanent residents from at least one specified under-represented background • Ineligible if they have more than 5 years of paid experience in the relevant department or are employees of government screen agencies • Stage 2 also requires a drivers licence, TFN, bank account, placement availability, and successful completion of Stage 1 training
Stage 1 applicants must be 18 years or older, be a New South Wales resident who has lived in New South Wales for at least 6 months immediately before applying, be an Australian citizen or permanent resident, be available to attend intensive training for their applied department, and belong to at least one under-represented group: Regional New South Wales, Western Sydney, First Nations people, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people living with disability, LGBTQIA+ people, or people from low socio-economic backgrounds. Applicants must not be in breach of any obligation under any funding agreement with the New South Wales Government and must not be an employee of a federal, state or territory government screen agency. Applicants are ineligible if they have more than 5 years of paid experience in the department for which they are applying. For the accessibility or travel bursary, applicants must also either live in regional New South Wales or Western Sydney and be unable to cover travel costs, or be living with disability and require accessibility measures. Stage 2 applicants must meet all Stage 1 criteria and also have a current drivers licence, an Australian tax file number, an Australian bank account, be available to commit to a trainee placement on a New South Wales production for up to 20 weeks, commit to regular meetings with an industry mentor for up to 2 years, and have satisfactorily completed the Stage 1 training for the relevant department.
