Who Can Apply

• Applicants must be organisations; individuals cannot apply. • Applicants must be an eligible organisation type, including incorporated not-for-profit community organisations, New South Wales local councils and section 355 committees, approved not-for-profit bodies, not-for-profit companies limited by guarantee registered in New South Wales, Indigenous Corporations, New South Wales Local Aboriginal Land Councils, religious organisations operating in New South Wales, certain New South Wales non-government organisations established under their own Act, or New South Wales Government agencies responsible for a war memorial. • The applicant must own the war memorial or have the owner's endorsement to undertake the project and apply. • The applicant organisation must be based in New South Wales. • The applicant must have an Australian Business Number or written Australian Taxation Office advice that no withholding tax is required. • The applicant must be financially solvent. • The applicant must have acquitted all previously awarded Community War Memorials Fund grants, unless an exemption applies. • The applicant must have or be willing to obtain appropriate insurance if successful. • The project must relate to an existing war memorial that commemorates Australia's military heritage. • The war memorial must be located within New South Wales or, if outside the state, be of direct and substantial relevance to New South Wales. • The war memorial must be on public land, or if on private land it must be used for commemorative services or be easily accessible by the general public. • The war memorial must be listed on the NSW War Memorials Register or submitted to the Register before the round closes. • Applications must be submitted under Category A for specialist reports or Category B for physical conservation works. • Applications must include mandatory supporting documents, including photographs and relevant quotes. • Projects must not have already started or been finished. • Standard maximum funding is $10,000 excluding GST, with limited exceptions such as accessibility works up to $2,000 and some cases up to $15,000.

The project must relate to an existing war memorial commemorating Australia's military heritage, located in New South Wales or otherwise of direct and substantial relevance to the state, and the memorial must be listed on or submitted to the NSW War Memorials Register before the closing date. Projects must fit Category A (specialist reports) or Category B (physical conservation works), include mandatory quotes and photographs, and must not have already started or finished. Funding requests are generally capped at $10,000 excluding GST, with some exceptions.
