This Aboriginal Affairs NSW grant program provides funding to assist with the repair, reconstruction and minor resilience building measures for Aboriginal community infrastructure affected by the 2022 floods in New South Wales. Stream 1 supports eligible Local Aboriginal Land Councils with asset damage assessments, urgent minor infrastructure works and related planning.

Who Can Apply

• Applicant must be a Local Aboriginal Land Council under the Aboriginal Land Rights Act 1983 (NSW). • Applicant must be located in one of the targeted Local Government Areas: Ballina, Byron, Clarence Valley, Hawkesbury, Kyogle, Lismore, Richmond Valley or Tweed. • Applicant must provide evidence of current public liability insurance of at least $10,000,000 per claim. • Quotes and/or technical reports are required for the infrastructure component for Stream 1. • Project must align with the program outcomes. • Project activities must be directly related to flood-damaged Aboriginal community infrastructure. • Works must not already be covered or claimed under insurance or other Australian or New South Wales government programs. • Applicant must demonstrate capacity to deliver the proposed project activities. • Applicant must be able to commence proposed project activities within 6 months of approval. • Applicants with unmet acquittal or reporting requirements from Aboriginal Affairs NSW grants in the previous two years must partner with the NSW Aboriginal Land Council in an auspice arrangement.
Applicants must be Local Aboriginal Land Councils under the Aboriginal Land Rights Act 1983 (NSW) located within one of the eight targeted Local Government Areas: Ballina, Byron, Clarence Valley, Hawkesbury, Kyogle, Lismore, Richmond Valley or Tweed. Applicants must provide evidence of current public liability insurance with minimum coverage of $10 million per claim. Quotes and/or technical reports are required for the infrastructure component in Stream 1. Projects must align with program outcomes and be directly related to flood-damaged Aboriginal community infrastructure. Works must not have been covered through insurance or other Australian or New South Wales government funding. Applicants must demonstrate capacity to deliver the project and ability to commence activities within 6 months of approval. Eligible Local Aboriginal Land Councils that have not met project requirements, including acquittal and reporting requirements, for any Aboriginal Affairs NSW grant funding received in the previous two years will be required to partner with the NSW Aboriginal Land Council in an auspice arrangement.
