Who Can Apply

• Applicant must be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Community-Controlled Organisation (ACCO), or an unincorporated Aboriginal community group with an eligible auspicing organisation. • Applicant organisation must be an eligible legal entity located in New South Wales. • Applicant must be able to enter into a funding agreement with Aboriginal Affairs NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet. • Applicant must have an Australian bank account. • Applicant must have an Australian Business Number (ABN). • Applicant must hold public liability insurance of at least $10000000 per claim, or include the insurance cost in the application. • Projects must be delivered in a local Aboriginal community in New South Wales. • State-wide programs or activities are not eligible. • Projects must contribute to one or more specific Closing the Gap socio-economic outcome targets. • Projects must demonstrate local Aboriginal community support and involvement in development and delivery. • Capital works projects must have property or landowner consent and all planning approvals. • Individuals cannot apply. • For-profit organisations, including Aboriginal businesses, cannot apply. • Federal and state government agencies and bodies cannot apply. • New South Wales public schools cannot apply. • Incorporated not-for-profit organisations not controlled or operated by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people cannot apply. • Unincorporated organisations or groups without an eligible auspicing organisation cannot apply. • Organisations that have not met project requirements, including acquittal and reporting for Aboriginal Affairs NSW funding in the previous two years, cannot apply. • Organisations with redress sanctions under the National Redress Scheme cannot apply.
Applicants had to be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Community-Controlled Organisation (ACCO) or an unincorporated Aboriginal community group with an agreement for an eligible ACCO to auspice the funding. Eligible applicant organisations had to be located in New South Wales, be able to enter into a funding agreement with Aboriginal Affairs NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet, have an Australian bank account and an Australian Business Number, and hold public liability insurance of at least $10 million per claim or include the insurance cost in the application. Projects had to be delivered in a local Aboriginal community in New South Wales, contribute to one or more specific Closing the Gap socio-economic outcome targets, demonstrate community support and involvement, and for capital works include landowner consent and planning approvals. Ineligible applicants included individuals, for-profit organisations including Aboriginal businesses, government agencies and bodies, NSW public schools, non-Indigenous-controlled incorporated not-for-profits, unincorporated groups without an eligible auspicing organisation, organisations with unmet Aboriginal Affairs NSW acquittal or reporting requirements in the previous two years, and organisations with redress sanctions.
