The Centre of Excellence Fund supports the construction of new or enhancement of existing sporting Centres of Excellence in New South Wales. It aims to improve elite talent pathways, sport infrastructure and community engagement, with a strong focus on inclusion, women and girls, and operational sustainability.

Who Can Apply

• Eligible applicants include recognised State Sporting Organisations, National Sporting Organisations, NSW Institute of Sport, Australian Sports Commission, NSW Regional Academies of Sport, universities with New South Wales campuses, specialist sports high schools operated by the NSW Department of Education, NSW-based professional sporting organisations, eligible sporting clubs and associations, local government authorities, and private enterprises. • Applicants must be based in or operate in New South Wales where specified, and projects must be located on land within New South Wales. • Applicants must provide landowner consent for the project unless the land is owned by the applicant. • Applicants must provide an ABN, ACN, incorporation number and/or Indigenous Incorporation Number. • Individuals and groups of individuals cannot apply. • Schools other than NSW Department of Education operated specialist sports high schools, and TAFEs, cannot apply. • Parent and Citizens Associations, progress associations, and community or religious groups without a primary purpose of sport and/or recreation cannot apply. • Organisations named by the National Redress Scheme or Royal Commission as not having joined the National Redress Scheme are not eligible. • Applications are expected to include a minimum 50% financial co-contribution, with hardship consideration available. • Partnership approaches are encouraged and considered favourably.
Eligible applicants include NSW Office of Sport recognised State Sporting Organisations (including National Sporting Organisations where the state body is part of a unitary governance model), National Sporting Organisations, NSW Institute of Sport, Australian Sports Commission, NSW Regional Academies of Sport, Australian universities with NSW campuses, NSW Department of Education operated specialist sports high schools, NSW-based professional sporting organisations competing in a national or state competition, NSW-based sporting clubs and associations with approval of their state or national body, NSW Local Government Authorities, the Unincorporated Far West Region, the Lord Howe Island Board, and private enterprises. Individuals, most schools and TAFEs, P&C Associations, progress associations, and community or religious groups without a primary purpose of sport and/or recreation are ineligible. Projects must be on land within New South Wales, with signed landowner consent where applicable, and applicants must provide an ABN, ACN, incorporation number and/or Indigenous Incorporation Number. Eligible organisations are ineligible if named by the National Redress Scheme for Institutional Child Sexual Abuse as not joined or intending not to join, or named in the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse and not yet joined the Scheme. Applicants are expected to provide a minimum 50% financial co-contribution, although financial hardship applications may be considered.
