Who Can Apply
• Must have an active Australian business number (ABN)
• Must be non-tax-exempt
• Must be registered for goods and services tax (GST)
• Must be one of: an entity incorporated in Australia and a trading corporation; a foreign corporation; an incorporated trustee on behalf of a trust where the trustee is also a trading, financial or foreign corporation; an Australian State or Territory government agency or body; or an authority of the Commonwealth such as CSIRO
• Trading corporations must have sufficiently significant trading activities
• Project must be located in Australia
• Project must be completed by 2031-04-30
• Application must show a minimum of 2000000 in eligible project expenditure
• Project must focus on CCUS technology research, development or commercialisation, CO2 utilisation technology research, development or commercialisation, or feasibility and geological studies into new potential CO2 storage locations
• Only one application can be submitted per applicant for each focus area
• Must provide board or CEO evidence that the project is supported and can be completed
• Must provide evidence of ability to fund the applicant share of project costs
• Foreign corporations must confirm they and/or subcontractors are not on the DFAT Consolidated List
• Joint applications are allowed if the lead organisation is eligible
• Not eligible if on the National Redress Scheme list of institutions that have not joined or signified intent to join
• Not eligible if an employer of 100 or more employees that has not complied with the Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012
• Not eligible if income tax exempt
• Not eligible if an individual, partnership, unincorporated association, or trust without an incorporated trustee
Applicants had to be eligible entities with an ABN, be non-tax-exempt, and be registered for GST. Eligible entity types included an entity incorporated in Australia and a trading corporation, a foreign corporation, an incorporated trustee on behalf of a trust where the trustee is also a trading, financial or foreign corporation, an Australian State or Territory government agency or body, or an authority of the Commonwealth such as CSIRO. Projects had to be located in Australia, be completed by 30 April 2031, and show at least $2 million in eligible project expenditure. Projects had to focus on researching, developing or commercialising carbon capture and storage technologies, researching, developing or commercialising CO2 utilisation technologies, or completing feasibility and geological studies into new potential CO2 storage locations. Applicants also had to provide board or CEO support evidence, evidence of ability to fund their share of project costs, and foreign corporations had to show they and/or subcontractors were not on the DFAT Consolidated List. Ineligible applicants included organisations on the National Redress Scheme non-participation list, certain non-compliant large employers under the Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012, income tax exempt entities, individuals, partnerships, unincorporated associations, and trusts unless applying through an incorporated trustee.
