Who Can Apply

Must have an active ABN, be non-tax-exempt, and be registered for GST. Must be an eligible incorporated corporation, foreign corporation, incorporated trustee, State or Territory agency, or Commonwealth authority. Project must be located in Australia, have at least $10 million in eligible expenditure, and be completed by 30 April 2031. Individuals, partnerships, unincorporated associations, income tax exempt entities, and certain non-compliant organisations were not eligible.
Applicants had to be eligible entities with an Australian Business Number, be non-tax-exempt, and be registered for GST. Eligible entity types included an entity incorporated in Australia and a trading corporation, a foreign corporation, an incorporated trustee on behalf of a trust where the trustee is also a trading, financial or foreign corporation, an Australian State or Territory government agency or body, or an authority of the Commonwealth such as CSIRO. Trading corporations needed sufficiently significant trading activities. Ineligible applicants included organisations on the National Redress Scheme non-participation list, employers of 100 or more employees that had not complied with the Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012, income tax exempt entities, individuals, partnerships, unincorporated associations, organisations not included in section 4.1 of the guidelines, and trusts unless applying through an incorporated trustee. Projects had to be located in Australia, be completed by 30 April 2031, and show at least $10 million in eligible project expenditure. Applications also had to provide board or CEO support, evidence of ability to fund the applicant share of project costs, foreign corporation compliance with the DFAT Consolidated List requirement, and letters of intent from project partners for consortium applications.
