Who Can Apply
• Must have an active Australian business number (ABN)
• Must be non-tax-exempt
• Must be registered for goods and services tax (GST)
• Must be one of: an entity incorporated in Australia and a trading corporation; a foreign corporation; an incorporated trustee on behalf of a trust where the trustee is also a trading, financial or foreign corporation; an Australian State or Territory government agency or body; or a Commonwealth authority such as CSIRO
• Trading corporations must have sufficiently significant trading activities
• Joint applications are allowed if the lead organisation is eligible
• Project must be located in Australia
• Project must be completed by 30 April 2031
• Application must show at least $10 million in eligible project expenditure
• Must provide board or CEO evidence supporting the project and confirming ability to complete it and meet non-grant costs
• Must show how the applicant share of project costs will be funded
• Foreign corporations must confirm they and/or subcontractors are not on the DFAT Consolidated List
• Consortium applications must include letters of intent from all project partners
• Not eligible if on the National Redress Scheme list of institutions that have not joined or signified intent to join
• Not eligible if an employer of 100 or more employees that has not complied with the Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012
• Not eligible if income tax exempt
• Not eligible if an individual, partnership, unincorporated association, or a trust without an incorporated trustee
Applicants had to be eligible entities with an Australian business number, be non-tax-exempt, and be registered for GST. Eligible entity types included an entity incorporated in Australia and a trading corporation, a foreign corporation, an incorporated trustee on behalf of a trust where the trustee is also a trading, financial or foreign corporation, an Australian State or Territory government agency or body, or a Commonwealth authority such as CSIRO. Ineligible applicants included organisations on the National Redress Scheme non-participation list, employers with 100 or more employees that had not complied with the Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012, income tax exempt entities, individuals, partnerships, unincorporated associations, organisations not included in the guidelines, and trusts unless applying through an incorporated trustee. Projects had to be located in Australia, completed by 30 April 2031, and show at least $10 million in eligible project expenditure. Applications also had to provide board or CEO support, evidence of ability to fund the applicant share of project costs, foreign corporation DFAT Consolidated List compliance where relevant, and letters of intent from project partners for consortium applications.
