Who Can Apply

Aboriginal incorporated organisations and eligible social enterprises could apply. Applicants needed a current ABN and no outstanding final reports from previous government grants. Unincorporated groups or those without an ABN could apply via an eligible auspice organisation. Individuals, sole traders, government agencies, local councils, schools, TAFEs, universities, fixed trusts and commercial enterprises could not apply as lead applicants.
Eligible applicants must be either an Aboriginal organisation that is an incorporated legal entity, or a social enterprise with a clearly stated purpose or mission specifically related to supporting Aboriginal communities in bushfire recovery. Applicants must be capable of reporting to BRV on funded project outcomes and activities. Applicants for grants under Stream 1 must have had their Country directly impacted by the 2019-20 bushfires. Applicants must have a current Australian Business Number and no outstanding final reports for previous government grant programs. Organisations that are not incorporated or do not have an ABN may still apply if supported by an eligible auspice organisation that agrees to manage the grant. Ineligible lead applicants include state and federal government departments and agencies, individuals and sole traders, unincorporated community organisations, commercial enterprises, fixed trusts, local councils, and registered primary and secondary schools, preschools, TAFE institutes and universities, although some of these may act as auspice organisations or partners.
