Who Can Apply

• Applicants may be local councils, government agencies, community groups or private sector organisations. • The project must comply with the BIERP guidelines and eligible project types. • The project must be on land or waters the applicant owns or has tenure over, or the applicant must provide landowner support, approval or consent. • The applicant must have and retain control and/or ownership of the funded infrastructure and be responsible for ongoing management and maintenance. • Evidence of damage caused by a natural disaster or severe weather event must be provided, including before and after photos. • Evidence of previous maintenance of the asset must be provided, such as photos, invoices, maintenance plans or audit reports. • The funding request must be at least $5,000 and no more than $300,000. • Project costs and funding requests must be supported by reasonable quotes or past invoices relevant to the scope. • A detailed plan of works must be provided, including risks, timeframes, milestones, methodology, drawings or specifications as applicable. • If betterment funding is requested, evidence must show why betterment is more beneficial than repair. • The asset must be available for use by the general boating public and provide direct benefits to recreational boaters and the general boating public. • Applications must be submitted within 3 months of the natural disaster or severe weather event.
Applicants can include local councils, government agencies, community groups and private sector organisations that own, manage or operate public boating infrastructure. Projects must comply with the BIERP guidelines, be located on land or waters owned by the applicant or supported by landowner consent, and the applicant must retain control or ownership of the funded infrastructure after completion. Applicants must provide evidence of damage caused by a natural disaster or severe weather event, evidence of previous maintenance, a detailed plan of works, reasonable cost support such as quotes or invoices, and where relevant justification for betterment over repair. Funding requests must be between $5,000 and $300,000, and the asset must be available for use by the general boating public and provide direct public boating benefits. Applications must be submitted via SmartyGrants within 3 months of the damage-causing event.
