Who is eligible for the Australian Government Black Spot Program?
- Nominations are invited from local councils.
- Community groups, associations, road user groups, industry, and individuals may submit suggestions to their local council.
- Councils are responsible for submitting nominations for Local and Regional Roads.
- Urban locations under 3 kilometres must have at least 3 casualty crashes over a 5-year period.
- Urban locations 3 kilometres or longer must have an average casualty crash rate of at least 0.2 crashes per kilometre per year.
- Rural locations under 3 kilometres must have at least 2 casualty crashes over a 5-year period.
- Rural locations 3 kilometres or longer must have an average casualty crash rate of at least 0.13 crashes per kilometre per year.
- Projects must have a Benefit-Cost Ratio greater than 2.
- Total project cost must be $3 million or less.
- Multi-year projects including development and delivery are eligible.
- Development-only proposals are not eligible.
- Proactive projects must include a Safe Systems Assessment.
