- Groups not based in the region cannot apply
- Projects not substantially based in the region cannot apply
- Professional touring groups cannot apply
- Commercial enterprises cannot apply
- Unincorporated associations without an administering body cannot apply
- Regional Conservatoriums cannot apply
- Organisations that have applied for or received funding from Arts Upper Hunter or Create NSW for the same activity cannot apply
- State and federal government departments, including schools, cannot apply except P&Cs or P&Fs
- Organisations with overdue reports or acquittals for Arts Upper Hunter-administered funding cannot apply
- Applicants must discuss their project with Arts Upper Hunter before applying
