Who Can Apply
• Applicant airline must hold a current Australian air transport Air Operator’s Certificate authorising the relevant services
• Commercial passenger services must be scheduled air transport operations; charter services are not eligible
• Route must be to or from a regional or remote location as defined by the Australian Standard Geographical Classification
• Commercial route must be serviced by a single operator
• Commercial route must have no more than 15,000 passenger movements per annum
• Commercial route must not already receive a government subsidy for flight costs
• Proposed commercial route must demonstrate economic and/or social impact on the community
• Aircraft used must have a maximum take-off weight of 15,000 kg or less
• Aeromedical applicants must demonstrate engagement as a contracted aeromedical provider
• Aeromedical services must use aircraft listed on the airline's AOC for that purpose
For the commercial passenger component, the airline must hold a current Australian air transport Air Operator’s Certificate authorising scheduled air transport operations on the route and aircraft type; services must be scheduled air transport operations and not charter services; the route must be to or from a regional or remote location as defined by the Australian Standard Geographical Classification; the route must be serviced by a single operator; the route must have no more than 15,000 passenger movements per annum; the route must not otherwise receive a subsidy for flight costs from any level of government; the proposed route must demonstrate economic and/or social impact on the community; and the aircraft used must have a maximum take-off weight of 15,000 kg or less. For the aeromedical component, the airline must demonstrate engagement as a contracted aeromedical provider; hold an AOC authorising these services; use aircraft listed on the AOC for that purpose; use aircraft with a maximum take-off weight of 15,000 kg or less; and operate services anticipated to include travel to or from a regional or remote location.
