The 2026 Aboriginal Languages Revival Program provides grants of $1,000 to $30,000 to support eligible Aboriginal Community organisations, groups and certain Aboriginal sole traders in New South Wales to start or expand small-scale Aboriginal language revival projects and activities. Funding supports early-stage language work, community language resources, workshops, classes and related revitalisation activities.

Who Can Apply

• Must be a not-for-profit Aboriginal Community organisation working with Aboriginal Communities in New South Wales, or an Aboriginal sole trader whose primary business activity relates to New South Wales languages and whose project is not profit making in nature. • Eligible incorporated entity types include Aboriginal corporations, Australian registered companies or corporations operating in New South Wales, Local Aboriginal Land Councils, incorporated associations, incorporated cooperatives, and incorporated trustees on behalf of a trust. • Unincorporated groups must have a valid and current auspice agreement with an eligible organisation. • Applicants must be located in New South Wales and/or deliver services to communities within New South Wales. • Applicants must have, or be willing to obtain, public liability insurance of at least $10 million per claim. • Individuals are not eligible. • Federal, state and local government agencies or bodies, including public schools and hospitals, are not eligible. • Public or government-funded schools, universities, TAFE, and Adult and Community Education organisations are not eligible. • For-profit organisations are not eligible, except certain Aboriginal sole trader businesses. • Unincorporated organisations or groups without an eligible auspicing organisation are not eligible. • Applicants that have not met Aboriginal Languages Trust project requirements, including acquittal and reporting for funding received in the previous two years, are not eligible. • Applicants found to have provided false or misleading information in previous Aboriginal Languages Trust grant applications are not eligible.
Applicants must be either a not-for-profit Aboriginal Community organisation working with Aboriginal Communities in New South Wales, or an Aboriginal sole trader whose primary business activity relates to New South Wales languages and whose project is not profit making in nature. Eligible organisation types include an Aboriginal Corporation registered under the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006, an Australian registered company or corporation operating in New South Wales, a Local Aboriginal Land Council, an incorporated association, an incorporated cooperative, or an incorporated trustee on behalf of a trust. Unincorporated groups may apply only if they have a valid and current auspice agreement with an eligible organisation. Applicants must be located in New South Wales and/or deliver a service to communities within New South Wales, and must have or be willing to obtain public liability insurance of at least $10 million per claim. Ineligible applicants include individuals, government agencies and bodies, public schools and hospitals, government-funded schools, universities, TAFE and ACE organisations, for-profit organisations including Aboriginal businesses except certain Aboriginal sole traders, unincorporated groups without an eligible auspice, organisations or sole traders that have not met Aboriginal Languages Trust project requirements in the previous two years, and applicants found to have provided false or misleading information in previous Aboriginal Languages Trust grant applications.
