The Aboriginal Families as Teachers (AFaT) program provides targeted grants to support culturally strong early childhood education programs for Aboriginal families in New South Wales. Funding supports structured 5-day early childhood education delivery and related activities that strengthen home learning, literacy, numeracy, transitions and participation in quality early childhood education and care.

Who is eligible for the Aboriginal Families as Teachers?
- Applicant is an Aboriginal community-controlled organisation providing early childhood education and care services, or an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander organisation providing early childhood education and care services, or a not-for-profit service in an eligible location
- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander organisations may demonstrate status through ORIC registration, Supply Nation, Indigenous Chamber of Commerce, 51% Aboriginal ownership, or other relevant documentation
- Proposed program activities must be developed by a qualified Early Childhood Teacher
- Program delivery must be implemented by a certificate III or diploma qualified early childhood educator, an Early Childhood Teacher, or another person with a relevant tertiary qualification
- For not-for-profit services, the service must be located in an eligible SA3 location in New South Wales
