What is the 2026 Aboriginal Families as Teachers?
Who is eligible for the 2026 Aboriginal Families as Teachers?
- Applicant must be an Aboriginal community-controlled organisation providing ECEC services, or an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander organisation providing ECEC services, or a not-for-profit service located in an eligible SA3 location
- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander organisations may need evidence such as ORIC registration, Supply Nation or Indigenous Chamber of Commerce documentation, 51% Aboriginal ownership evidence, or similar documentation
- Service must be located in an eligible SA3 location
- Proposed program activities must be developed by a qualified Early Childhood Teacher
- Program delivery must be implemented by a Certificate III or diploma qualified early childhood educator, an Early Childhood Teacher, or another person with a relevant tertiary qualification
- Activities must commence during the calendar year of the successful grant contract
- Funding must only be used for approved AFaT program delivery and cannot replace existing funding sources or be combined with other grant funds for the same activity
