Who Can Apply

• Applicant must be either an Aboriginal organisation that is an incorporated legal entity, or a social enterprise with a clearly stated mission related to supporting Aboriginal communities in bushfire recovery. • Applicant must be able to report to Emergency Recovery Victoria on funded project outcomes and activities. • Applicant's Country must have been directly impacted by the 2019–20 bushfires within the specified Victorian Local Government Areas or Alpine Resorts. • Applicant must have a current Australian Business Number (ABN), unless applying through an eligible auspice organisation. • Applicant must have no outstanding final reports or financial reports for previous government grant programs. • Unincorporated organisations or organisations without an ABN may apply if supported by an eligible auspice organisation. • State and Federal government agencies cannot apply. • Individuals and sole traders cannot apply. • Unincorporated community organisations cannot apply directly. • Commercial enterprises cannot apply alone. • Fixed trusts cannot apply. • Local Government Authorities, schools, preschools, TAFE institutes and universities cannot apply directly, but some may act as auspice organisations.
To be eligible, an organisation had to be either an Aboriginal organisation that is an incorporated legal entity, or a social enterprise with a clearly stated purpose or mission specifically related to supporting Aboriginal communities in bushfire recovery. The organisation also had to be capable of reporting to Emergency Recovery Victoria on project outcomes and activities. Applicants had to have Country directly impacted by the 2019-20 bushfires within the listed Victorian Local Government Areas or Alpine Resorts in scope. Applicants also needed a current Australian Business Number and no outstanding final or financial reports for previous government grant programs. Organisations that were not incorporated or did not have an ABN could still apply if supported by an eligible auspice organisation that agreed to manage the grant. Ineligible applicants included state and federal government agencies, individuals and sole traders, unincorporated community organisations, commercial enterprises applying alone, fixed trusts, local government authorities, and registered schools, preschools, TAFE institutes and universities, although some of these could act as auspice organisations.
