Who Can Apply

Must be an incorporated Aboriginal organisation or eligible social enterprise supporting Aboriginal bushfire recovery. Must have Country directly impacted by the 2019-20 bushfires in the listed Victorian LGAs or Alpine Resorts. Must have a current ABN and no outstanding reports for previous government grants, unless applying through an eligible auspice. Individuals, sole traders, government agencies, unincorporated groups, commercial enterprises applying alone, fixed trusts and local governments cannot apply.
To be eligible, an organisation must be either an Aboriginal organisation that is an incorporated legal entity, or a social enterprise with a clearly stated purpose or mission specifically related to supporting Aboriginal communities in bushfire recovery. The organisation must have the capability to report to Emergency Recovery Victoria on the outcomes and activities of the funded project. Applicants must have had their Country directly impacted by the 2019-20 bushfires, within the specified Victorian Local Government Areas or Alpine Resorts in scope. Applicants must also have a current Australian Business Number and no outstanding final or financial reports for previous government grant programs. If an organisation is not incorporated or does not have an ABN, it may still apply with support from an eligible auspice organisation that agrees to manage the grant. Ineligible applicants include State and Federal government agencies, individuals and sole traders, unincorporated community organisations, commercial enterprises applying alone, fixed trusts, Local Government Authorities, and registered schools, preschools, TAFE institutes and universities, although some of these may act as auspice organisations.

Expected Outcomes

Projects are expected to improve Aboriginal communities' preparedness for future bushfire and emergency events, strengthen culturally safe crisis management planning, support Aboriginal-led bushfire management solutions, and improve the resilience and functionality of community infrastructure.
