Who Can Apply

• Applicant must be a not-for-profit organisation and one of: an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation, an Aboriginal not-for-profit organisation, an unincorporated Aboriginal community group with an eligible auspice, or an Aboriginal sole trader or business whose primary business activity relates to cultural expression or revitalisation • Applicant or auspice must be a legal entity located in New South Wales or in a bordering community delivering services to Aboriginal communities in New South Wales • Project must be delivered in New South Wales • Applicant or auspice must hold public liability insurance of at least $10 million per claim, or be willing to purchase it for the project • Applicant must have no outstanding requirements relating to previous Aboriginal Affairs NSW funding • Individuals are not eligible unless they are an eligible Aboriginal sole trader • Non-Aboriginal groups or organisations are not eligible, except eligible auspice organisations supporting an unincorporated Aboriginal community group • Incorporated not-for-profit organisations not controlled or operated by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are not eligible • Federal and State Government agencies and bodies, including New South Wales public schools and hospitals, are not eligible • Unincorporated organisations or groups without an eligible auspicing organisation are not eligible • Organisations that have not acquitted or reported on previous Aboriginal Affairs NSW grant funding in the previous two years are not eligible • Organisations with redress sanctions under the National Redress Scheme are not eligible

Government agencies and bodies, including New South Wales public schools and hospitals, are ineligible, as are unincorporated groups without an eligible auspice, organisations with unmet prior grant acquittal or reporting requirements in the previous two years, and organisations with redress sanctions under the National Redress Scheme.

Eligible activities include cultural gatherings on Country, cultural health and wellbeing camps, workshops, digitisation of local Aboriginal history, and regional or state-wide music, sporting and cultural events delivered in New South Wales. Funding can cover consumables, equipment hire, contractors such as facilitators or trainers, minor equipment, limited administration or auspice fees, and some merchandise costs.
