Who Can Apply

• Applicant must be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Community-controlled, not-for-profit organisation working with Aboriginal communities in New South Wales, or an eligible Aboriginal sole trader/business focused on cultural expression or revitalisation • Eligible entity types include Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander corporations, Australian companies, Local Aboriginal Land Councils, incorporated associations, incorporated cooperatives, incorporated trustees on behalf of a trust, and unincorporated Aboriginal community groups with an eligible auspice • Applicant must be able to enter into a funding agreement with Aboriginal Affairs NSW • Applicant must have an Australian bank account • Applicant must hold public liability insurance of at least $10 million per claim or include its purchase in the project budget • Projects must take place within New South Wales • Applicants must deliver a service to Aboriginal communities within New South Wales • Individuals cannot apply • Non-Aboriginal groups or organisations cannot apply, except eligible auspice organisations supporting an unincorporated Aboriginal community group • Federal and state government agencies and bodies, including New South Wales public schools and hospitals, cannot apply • Unincorporated organisations or groups without an eligible auspicing organisation cannot apply • Organisations that have not acquitted or reported on Aboriginal Affairs NSW grant funding received in the previous 2 years cannot apply • Organisations with redress sanctions under the National Redress Scheme cannot apply • An organisation may only receive one grant from the 2023–2024 Cultural Grants Program and may act as auspice for a maximum of one project in each round
Applicants must be Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Community-controlled, not-for-profit organisations working with Aboriginal communities in New South Wales, or eligible Aboriginal sole traders or businesses whose primary business activity relates to cultural expression or revitalisation and whose projects are not profit-making in nature. Eligible organisation types include Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander corporations, Australian companies, Local Aboriginal Land Councils, incorporated associations, incorporated cooperatives, incorporated trustees on behalf of a trust, and unincorporated Aboriginal community groups with an eligible not-for-profit auspice organisation. Applicants must be able to enter into a funding agreement with Aboriginal Affairs NSW, have an Australian bank account, and hold or be willing to purchase public liability insurance of at least $10 million per claim. Projects must take place within New South Wales and deliver a service to Aboriginal communities within New South Wales. Ineligible applicants include individuals, non-Aboriginal groups or organisations except eligible auspice organisations, federal and state government agencies and bodies including New South Wales public schools and hospitals, unincorporated groups without an eligible auspice, organisations that have not met project requirements for Aboriginal Affairs NSW funding in the previous 2 years, and organisations with redress sanctions under the National Redress Scheme.
